Over the weekend, Ukrainian troops carried out offensive operations in at least three sectors of the front and achieved success, but claims of a “breakthrough” are still premature.

Experts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) write about this in the next code.
Ukrainian troops achieved success in the west of the Donetsk region and in the western part of the Zaporozhye region. It was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were advancing south of Velika Novoselka and liberated, in particular, Makarovka, Neskuchnoye, Blagodatnoye, Storozhevo and Novodarovka.
Russian sources confirmed this, but tried to downplay the significance of the successes of the Ukrainian troops.
Fighting continues in the gray zone or disputed areas, they said, with Ukrainian forces operating in areas that Russian forces had not fully occupied prior to Kyiv’s counter-offensive.
Russian sources are likely to refer to the advance of Ukrainian territories through Russian defenses as the capture of “gray zones” in order to downplay Ukraine’s successes and not report on the breakthrough of Ukrainian forces through the defense lines, experts write.
Earlier, ISW noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have a tactical advantage during night attacks on occupying positions thanks to Western equipment.
Russian sources note that the APU conducts attacks at night because Western equipment provides the APU with “excellent” night vision optics. Night assaults allow Ukrainian forces to use Western equipment more effectively.
