Resumption of water supply to Crimea is possible only after the return of the peninsula under the control of Ukraine.
Due to the weakening of the Russians at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, Crimea will be left without fresh water from the Dnieper for a long time. This will make it impossible for the region to develop in the next two years. This was announced on Saturday, June 10, by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov in an interview with journalist Andriy Tsaplienko on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon.
He stressed that the restoration of the supply of fresh water will be possible only after the return of the peninsula under the control of Ukraine.
“In December-November last year, we wrote that the Russians no longer need the Crimeans, and sooner or later they will decide to blow up this dam, and then Crimea will be left without water. If now they will not. have any tourist holiday seasons , there will not be a large consumption of water. But in the short term it will be a big problem for the development of Crimea. This ends its development for the next which will be 3-5-7 years, until a new dam is built to bring it all back. But then it will definitely be our native Ukrainian Crimea,” said Danilov.
This year, the demand for rental housing for summer holidays in Crimea temporarily occupied by Russians has fallen to a record low – up to 1% in other regions. The leadership was passed to Sochi.
About 700 thousand people in Ukraine, both in the controlled and occupied territories of the Russian Federation, do not have proper access to drinking water due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
