The former President of the United States was charged with possession of classified documents.
Former US President Donald Trump on Thursday, June 8, was indicted on seven counts under the espionage law. This was reported by CNN.
This is the first time a former president has faced federal charges. Trump was also accused of obstruction of justice, destruction or falsification of documents, conspiracy and misrepresentations.
The charge relates to Trump’s improper storage of classified documents at his Florida residence after he leaves the presidency in 2021.
The former president is scheduled to appear in a Miami court on Tuesday, June 13. At the same time, he denies that he has committed any wrongdoing and blames the “corrupt Biden government” for everything.
It was reported that 11 sets of classified documents were seized from Trump in a search last year.
This is the second criminal case filed against Trump in 2023. In April, he was indicted on 34 counts. A New York court has accused the 76-year-old former president of secretly paying porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their relationship.
