The Icelandic Parliament believes that children transferred to Russia, Belarus or within the occupied territories should be returned to their parents and other guardians.
The Icelandic Parliament (Althing) condemned the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia. This was announced by the Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Elena Kondratyuk.
The Althingi resolution states that “the Russian authorities must immediately stop the deportation of children, as it violates international humanitarian law and is a war crime, as recently stated in the declaration of the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik.”
The Icelandic Parliament believes that children transferred to Russia, Belarus or within the occupied territories should be returned to their parents and other guardians under the supervision of the international community.
According to Kondratyuk, colleagues in Iceland also spoke in favor of bringing to justice the representatives of the Russian authorities and all those responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children.
Recall that the Russian Federation deported more than 19 thousand Ukrainian children.
According to the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Irina Vereshchuk, the Russian Federation is changing the names and dates of birth of children removed from Ukraine.
