Russia plans to increase the number of military-patriotic propaganda programs and increase the amount of grants.
The Internet Development Institute (IRI), affiliated with the Russian presidential administration, will distribute 20 billion rubles in grants by 2023 to create “patriotic” content. Another 52 billion will be allocated for this in 2024-2025, which is a total of 72 billion rubles over three years – about $0.9 billion. This was confirmed by the investigation jellyfish And important stories.
In 2021, Iran received 10 billion rubles from the budget. Another structure of propaganda – Russian Cinema Fund – received 12 billion rubles for 2023.
Founded in 2014, IRI is headed by Alexei Goreslavsky, a former employee of the presidential administration.
The main purpose of the structure is to provide grants for “network military-patriotic education” and “push through the government’s agenda,” a former employee of the organization told reporters.
On June 2, 2023, IRI published the results of the competition for the creation of “national content”. 10 billion rubles will be received by 163 projects (last year there were about a hundred of them for a total amount of more than three billion rubles).
The representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran began to warn the recipients of the grants that after signing the contracts they undertake not to hire “foreign agents”, and that appeals against the war should not be heard in project.
The contracts prohibit any public criticism of the authorities, including on social networks, for violating this condition, the film crew must pay a fine comparable to the project’s budget.
