Ukraine turned to the EU with a request for assistance in connection with the destruction of the dam in Nova Kakhovka.
This was announced today, June 7, on the website of the European Commission.
“In response, the EU is already channeling aid through its civil protection mechanism thanks to first offers from Germany, Austria and Lithuania,” the statement said.
It’s about helping:
- Germany offered 5,000 water filters and 56 generators;
- Austria – 20 water tanks and 10 drilling pumps.
- Lithuania and Germany also offered shelter equipment, including tents, beds and blankets.
The EU Emergency Response Coordination Center is in direct contact with the Ukrainian emergency services to monitor the exact needs on the ground, and is ready to coordinate further assistance in Ukraine based on emerging new needs.
In addition, yesterday, June 6, it became known that the Lithuanian Red Cross is allocating 1 million euros to the Ukrainian Red Cross for humanitarian assistance, evacuation and other necessary needs.
