Prostitution in India is legal. On average, about two million women work in the local sex industry.

The Supreme Court of India has recognized prostitution as a profession. On Friday, May 27, Asian Age reported.

Thus, representatives of prostitution are given the opportunity to enjoy legal protection and all other rights guaranteed by the country’s constitution.

The same goes for their children. In particular, we are talking about the right to the same human dignity as other citizens, as well as the opportunity to develop. All this is guaranteed by Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

It was noted that, first of all, the decision of the Supreme Court of India was addressed to the police. Law enforcement officers must refrain from violence and cruelty against sex workers and their children.

The police are obliged to ensure the confidentiality of this category of citizens and not to make public their personal data by court decision is obliged to the media.

It will be recalled that earlier a group of activists – residents of brothels in India decided to support their colleagues across the country and launch an exclusive magazine for prostitutes.
