Vučić was aware of US government reports that Serbian munitions entered Ukraine through intermediaries. And he won’t stop it.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the country is not against the sale of weapons to intermediaries, who can transfer them to Ukraine to fight the Russian Federation. The Financial Times reported this.
According to him, he is aware of US government reports that Serbian ammunition entered Ukraine through intermediaries. And he won’t stop it.
“Is it possible that this is happening? I have no doubt that this can happen. What is the alternative? Not to produce them? To not sell them?” Vucic mentioned.
He said he understood that Serbian weapons could end up in Ukraine.
The President of Serbia admitted that he was trying to balance between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, noting that he did not intend to help Russia’s military efforts.
According to Vučić, Serbia has joined all UN resolutions condemning Russia’s all-out aggression against Ukraine.
“We joined the re-export ban, for example, (technologies, – ed.) dual use in drones… We will not be a center for re-exporting anything to Russia,” he stressed.
Vučić said he used to speak with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin every three months. But for a year now he has not maintained contacts with the Kremlin, except for receiving guests from Moscow.
Earlier, the media wrote that Serbia, the only country in Europe that refuses to impose sanctions on Russia for its aggression in Ukraine, has agreed to provide weapons to Kyiv or has already sent them.
The head of the Serbian Ministry of Defense, Milos Vucevic, said that Belgrade does not supply weapons to any of the parties to the conflict.
