Undermining the engine room from the inside led to the complete destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP. The station is beyond repair. The preliminary forecast assumes that deterioration of the reservoir is expected over the next four days. As of 9:00 a.m., the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is rapidly decreasing, and the evacuation of the population from potential flood areas has begun. This was reported in the company “Ukrhydroenergo”.
The uncontrolled decrease in the level of the reservoir is an additional threat to the temporarily occupied Zaporozhye NPP. After all, it is water from the Kakhovka reservoir that is necessary for the “atomic industry” to receive recharge for turbine condensers and ZNPP safety systems. Now the station cooling pond is full. The Ukrainian staff of ZNPP monitors all indicators.
Ukrhydroenergo continues to analyze the situation, our specialists are working to clarify the extent of destruction, speed and volume of water. Information will be updated promptly, the company said.
Recall that as a result of the explosion by the Russians of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, about 16 thousand people ended up in the critical flood zone of the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. Threat of flooding for 80 settlements.
