Prigozhin’s mercenaries said that in Bakhmut they apparently engaged in a war with regular Russian military men and captured the lieutenant colonel.
leader PVC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin continues his war with the RF Ministry of Defense. The previous day, he said that the Russian regular army had mined the ways for his mercenaries to leave Bakhmut, Donetsk region. Moreover, the Russian military opened fire on the militants, as a result, a battle broke out between the Kremlin army and the “Wagnerites”. It seems that Prigozhin’s conflict with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is on the verge of transitioning from an information war to a real war.
First fight
This weekend, Prigozhin published a report in which he accused Russian military personnel of mining roads and shearing his fighters.
The so-called “document” states that the incident between the invaders took place on May 17. The mercenaries allegedly told Prigozhin that they noticed groups of the Ministry of Defense in the area of Opytny and Ozaryanovka, passing through the roads in the rear zone of the “Wagnerites”.
“Today, a group of sappers of the 1st ISR went forward for engineering reconnaissance of the specified section of the road. We found landmines in the form of a large number of plastids, anti-tank mines and artillery shells, which was installed in a controlled version and launched at the positions of the Ministry of Defense. After a preliminary inspection of the mining areas, the groups began to demine the roads, but were forced to stop work because of the region of Semigorye at about 15:40 opened fire on them. from small arms from the positions of the Ministry of Defense,” the report said.
As stated in the “document”, during the shelling the URAL was damaged, and the “Wagnerites” “took appropriate measures to eliminate aggression and restraint.”
Lieutenant Colonel captured
Continuing this story, Prigozhin said that his militants captured one of the culprits – the commander of the 72nd separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Wagner press service also published a video with the imprisoned Lieutenant Colonel Roman Venevitin, who appears in the recording as the commander of the 72nd brigade of Russian troops and claims that he opened fire on the Wagnerites out of personal hatred. He also admitted that he was drunk.
Bellingcat journalist Khristo Grozev later confirmed that Venevitin was actually a regular Russian military man – a lieutenant colonel.

“No one will separate them”
Military expert Roman Svitan believes that the battle between the “Wagnerites” and the Russian military is only the first call of a large-scale armed confrontation between them.
“This lieutenant colonel was in the video and said that he fired at the car of Prigozhin’s organized crime group because of personal hatred. This personal hatred towards the army (appeared – ed.), when the units were not fed from a standard boiler,” the expert said.
That is, according to Svitan, everyone in the Russian army understood that Prigozhin’s mercenaries were receiving more equipment, weapons and ammunition from the Russian Defense Ministry. Wagner also has the best funding from the “private pocket”.
“That is, it causes internal graters, and they reach military confrontations and it will increase. This is just the beginning. then nothing will separate them,” Svitan added.
The same prediction applies to communication Wagner with “Kadyrovtsy”, the expert believes.
“Most likely, the Russian command will separate them from the front lines so that they do not meet. The right step will be taken, but the internal confrontation will not go anywhere,” he said.
