A Finnish-Swedish officer of the Department of Logistics of the Finnish Defense Forces received the badge “With the help of the army” from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny for his work in support of Ukraine, Hufvudstadsbladet reports.
The Finnish officer received the award on the occasion of the Flag Day of the Finnish Defense Forces, which was celebrated on Sunday. He was the only member of the military to be honored.
The Finnish Defense Forces did not disclose the name of the recipient and his specific position.
“This is a great honor, the award means a lot to me. At the same time, I understand that the award is addressed to all those who worked in support of Ukraine in the field of defense logistics,” said the military in an interview with Hufvudstadsbladet.
He praised the military cooperation between Finland and Ukraine, noting the intelligence of the Ukrainians, who are “good at finding solutions to problems.”
“I am proud that we as a nation have helped Ukraine in its struggle for survival. I recognize some of the weapon systems sent to Ukraine from discussions in the media. I cannot say that I am happy, because of the large number of deaths, but I am grateful for the ability to do meaningful work,” the official added.
Recall that the general military aid to Ukraine from Finland since the beginning of the entire invasion of Russia is at 1.1 billion euros.
