The situation at Zaporozhye NPP is getting worse every day, the invaders are causing direct damage to the plant’s nuclear safety and security.
The Russian invaders almost completely destroyed the emergency preparedness and response system at the Zaporozhye NPP. I said it. O. Chairman of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine Oleg Korikov at an online meeting with international partners, SNRIU reports.
“The situation at the Zaporozhye NPP site is worsening every day, the invaders are causing direct damage to the nuclear safety and security of the plant. Therefore, in order to restore nuclear and radiation safety, the Russian military and personnel of Russia should immediately withdraw,” the report said.
It was noted that the Russians continue to put pressure on ZNPP personnel, carry out intimidation, searches of private areas of plant employees, prohibit contacts with people located in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government , when people try to leave the occupied. territory, they do not let them out and threaten to confiscate them.
It is also reported that representatives of Rosatom, who are illegally residing in ZNPP, are recruiting personnel without appropriate qualifications. Due to the dismantling or theft by the Russian invaders of important elements of the systems, the disabling of computer equipment components, etc. significant effort and resources are required to restore the plant’s physical protection system. The occupiers almost completely destroyed the emergency preparedness and response system in ZNPP.
Thus, by order of the “administration” of the work, the transfer of information from the Automated System for Monitoring the Radiation Situation (ASKRO) of the Zaporozhye NPP was blocked.
“The Ukrainian regulator informed the IAEA about this case, which threatens the security at ZNPP, but did not receive notifications about possible planned measures from the agency to resolve this situation,” Korikov said.
According to him, the State Nuclear Regulatory Agency hopes for the early implementation of the five principles of the IAEA announced at the meeting of the UN Security Council to prevent a nuclear accident in the near future, proposed in addition to the seven important pillars of safety of the IAEA.
It will be remembered that the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi presented an updated security plan for the Zaporozhye NPP at a meeting of the UN Security Council on May 30.
It was earlier reported that the occupiers were preparing a large-scale provocation in the ZNPP.
