Residents of the Russian Chukotka Autonomous Okrug complained about the lack of chicken eggs.

In Russia, in Chukotka, local residents complained about the lack of chicken eggs. In the Bilibinsky district of the district, no more than 10 pieces are given out, and you can only buy them with a passport. This was announced by the head of the region Vladislav Kuznetsov on Telegram on June 1.

“High prices for products that are still not enough for everyone. They said that eggs are sold only to people with passports – a strategy like in the 90s!” he wrote.

Russian media wrote that about 5,500 people live in Bilibino – this is 10% of the population of Chukotka. Eggs are brought here from Anadyr, located 600 km away. At the same time, Kuznetsov ordered “to quickly create a supply of eggs in Bilibino sufficient to meet the demand.” He mentioned that a poultry farm is currently under construction in Bilibino.

Bilibino residents regularly report problems with the supply of eggs. In February, there was a long queue for this product. In April, before Easter, a dozen eggs from Magadan cost 600 rubles ($7). At the end of May, residents said that the sale of eggs in one of the shops started at 17:00, and after 20 minutes they were finished.
