Rafael Grossi at a meeting of the UN Security Council called on Ukraine and Russia to adhere to the five principles he proposed.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi presented an updated security plan for the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant at a meeting of the UN Security Council on May 30. This was reported by European Truth.
He noted that during meetings with the leadership of Ukraine and Russia, he defined specific principles “that will help ensure nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, to prevent a nuclear accident and ensure the invulnerability of the plant. “
The announced plan consists of five points:
-
any attacks by or against the ZNPP are prohibited, especially those directed at spent nuclear fuel storage facilities, other critical infrastructure or personnel;
-
The ZNPP shall not be used as a storage facility or base for the storage of heavy weapons;
-
ZNPP’s power supply will not be compromised;
-
all structures, systems and components necessary for the safe and reliable operation of the plant must be protected from attacks or acts of sabotage;
-
no action should be taken that violates these principles.
IAEA experts working directly at the Zaporozhye NPP must monitor compliance with the plan.
It will be remembered that the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslitsa said at a meeting of the Security Council that Kiev considers the five principles of nuclear safety of the ZNPP developed by Grossi, but it should be supplemented with the need for complete demilitarization and de – plant invasion.
