Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukasz Yassina has been sent on indefinite leave over his demands for an apology from Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky for the tragedy in Volyn. This was reported on Tuesday, May 30, by RMF FM.
It was noted that Yasina is unlikely to return to her post.
“Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukasz Yassin has been suspended from duty, he is on indefinite leave, during which he is unlikely to return to his post,” the statement said.
On May 20, the spokesman of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lukasz Yasina, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should apologize for the tragedy of Volyn in 1943. The Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland, Vasily Zvarych, called this approach not acceptable.
Recall that the tragedy in Volyn has long been a point of tension in bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland, however, since the beginning of a large-scale invasion, this topic has almost disappeared from the information space.
Recall that last week the head of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk came on a two-day visit to Poland.
