The Polish Armed Forces will buy a 500 US M142 Himars launcher. This was announced by Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on Twitter on Thursday, May 26th.
“We are increasing the capabilities of the missile and artillery forces! I signed a request for the acquisition of approximately 500 M142 HIMARS launchers … We are planning a high degree of Polonization of the equipment and its integration into Polish command and control system, ”Blaszczak said.
According to him, this amount of equipment will make it possible to produce 80 batteries of rocket artillery.
As part of the Homar program, a high level of installation localization is expected. We are talking, among other things, about production based on a car chassis made in Poland.
It should be noted that two years ago, Poland purchased a division of the HIMARS missile system from the United States for a total of $ 414 million.
Remember that Ukraine really needs Western MLRS – M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS. This issue has long been discussed, but so far US authorities have denied supplies, for fear of a possible reaction from Russia.
The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) is a very mobile multiple launch rocket system produced by BAE Systems Mobility & Protection Systems. The system is designed to fire guided and unguided missiles. The maximum range is 300 kilometers.
