Medvedev said Russia would not withdraw its troops from the Donbass and Crimea, following “the will of local residents.”
Moscow said that the conditions for a ceasefire, announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, were “impossible and categorical.” Tonight on Thursday, May 26, Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev wrote in the Telegram.
“The conditions that Zelensky puts for a halt are definitely to the point of idiocy and impossible in principle,” Medvedev said.
At the same time, he added that the Russian Federation could not withdraw troops from the Donbass, because “the will of local residents is important to them.” Also, Russia does not recognize Crimea and Donbas as Ukrainian, which, according to Medvedev, is a requirement of the Ukrainian side.
It will be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelensky said that there would be no negotiations with the Russian Federation until the occupying troops left the seized territories since February 24.
Meanwhile, Putin was told that the Ukrainian leadership must “recognize the de facto situation” and accept the demands of the Russian Federation.
