The Saber Guardian’23 maneuvers will last until June 9th. This includes approximately ten thousand military personnel and more than 1.7 thousand units of military equipment.
NATO’s international military exercise Saber Guardian’23 has started in Romania. It was announced on May 29 Radio Romania.
“These are important exercises that increase our ability to act together (with allies). The current context makes them important, because it is important to show that the Romanian army fulfills the obligation that the military of Romania is ready, that we have the weapons the country needs, to guarantee a normal life for the citizens,” said the country’s Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilver, at the launch ceremony for the maneuvers in Smirdan in eastern Romania.
Saber Guardian’23 will run until June 9th. In addition to Romania, 12 allied and partner countries are taking part in the maneuvers – Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, North Macedonia, USA, Montenegro and France.
According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, this is the largest and most comprehensive exercise held in the country this year. They included approximately ten thousand soldiers, including more than five thousand Romanians, and more than 1.7 thousand units of military equipment.
Maneuvers include the movement of troops on land, overcoming water obstacles, tactical exercises, including live firing, the use of military equipment, parachute landing, and evacuation of the wounded.
Remember that from May 25 to June 2, the exercises will be held in Moldova Air bastion-2023 with the participation of Britain, Romania and France.
