The Biden administration may announce the delivery of the modern MLRS early next week.
The Biden administration may announce deliveries of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Ukraine next week. On Thursday, May 26, CNN reported relating to several officers at once.
It was noted that advanced long-range missile systems are now the main request of the Ukrainian side.
The U.S. administration is leaning towards sending them to Ukraine as part of a larger military aid package that could be announced early next week.
U.S. -made weapon systems could launch missiles hundreds of kilometers – farther than any of the systems Ukraine already has – which Ukrainians say could be a game -changer in their war against in Russia.
Another system reportedly requested by Ukraine is a very mobile artillery rocket system known as HIMARS, a lighter wheeled system capable of firing many of the same types of ammunition as the MLRS.
Reuters also said the United States and its allies are increasingly willing to provide Ukraine with a longer range of weapons. A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Washington and Kyiv had a “common misunderstanding” over the use of certain weapons supplied to the West.
At the same time, the United States has concerns about growing whether strikes are conducted on Russian targets. However, the American partners did not want to impose geographical restrictions or tie the hands of the Ukrainian military.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that the Ukrainian military is fighting for every sector of the front, but is in dire need of long-term weapons.
It will be recalled that on May 23, the second meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine was held via videoconference with the participation of 47 countries. 20 states have announced new aid packages – these are critically needed artillery, tanks and other armored vehicles.
