At the moment our military has suspended the advance in the Bakhmut area to carry out other tasks, explained Anna Malyar.
The Ukrainian army firmly holds the dominant heights north and south of the city of Bakhmut, at the same time, the advance is suspended to carry out other tasks. This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar on Telegram on Saturday, May 27.
According to him, the enemy did not successfully advance in the direction of Bakhmut, but in general, the offensive activity was reduced. The Russians relied on air strikes and heavy artillery shelling.
“Yesterday and today there were no active battles – neither in the city nor on the edges. The enemy is actively chasing the outskirts of the city and approaching it,” said Malyar.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian side is firmly holding “the previously occupied dominant heights north and south of Bakhmut. At the same time, the advance was suspended yesterday and today to carry out other tasks.”
At the same time, the decrease in the offensive activity of the enemy is due to the fact that the replacement and regrouping of troops is underway. The enemy tries to strengthen his own abilities.
“And one more thing. Our troops control the Bakhmut neighborhood in the southwestern part in the Airplane area,” added Anna Malyar.
Recall that on Thursday the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the departure of mercenaries from Bakhmut. Until June 1, the bulk of the “Wagnerites” will be transferred to the rear camps, he assured.
