The candidate nominated by the President of the United States will head the General Staff if his candidacy is approved by Congress.
US President Joe Biden officially announced the replacement of the head of the US General Staff, General Mark Mill, and presented a candidate for this position, General Charles Brown. The American leader said this in a speech broadcast by the White House on Twitter.
“I am honored to present a candidate for the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Quinton Brown, Jr.,” he said.
According to him, General Brown “knew what it meant to be in the middle of a battle and how to stay calm when things got tough.” The leader of the United States set an example when his F-16 plane caught fire, and he returned to a base in Florida in 1991.”
The American president thanked General Milley for his service to the United States and stressed that he hopes to continue working with him even after Milley leaves office.
Charles Brown will head the US General Staff if Congress approves his candidacy.
Milley has served as the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff since 2019. He was appointed by former US President Donald Trump. Millie’s term expires in September 2023.
