The transfer of non-strategic nuclear weapons of Russia to the territory of Belarus has already begun.
The formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that Russian nuclear weapons have already started moving to Belarus as part of bilateral agreements. He said this on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow on May 25, according to pro-government Belarusian media.
Lukashenka commented on the agreement signed by the defense ministers of Belarus and Russia on the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
“A decision has been made on the construction of what was said verbally. We have to prepare places, storage and all that. We have done all this, so the movement of nuclear weapons has started,” he added.
To a clarifying question whether the Russian Federation’s nuclear weapons are already in Belarus, Lukashenka said: “It is possible. I will go and see.”
On Thursday, the defense ministers of Russia and Belarus signed documents on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow had agreed with Minsk on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. Lukashenka said that with the growth of threats to the country, strategic nuclear weapons can be introduced, and the infrastructure for this is ready.
