This was announced today, May 24, by the press center of the SBU.
The defendant is the deputy head of the pro-Russian organization “United Fatherland” and a member of the religious and political organization of the Russian Orthodox Church “Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods of Ukraine”, the report says.
According to the investigation, he was one of the organizers of provocations on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra at the end of March 2023.
Then the person involved incited people to riots and gave interviews in which he groundlessly accused Ukraine of starting a war, the special service notes. – He also recorded and broadcast his destructive speeches on the Holy Rus’ YouTube channel, which has more than 23 thousand subscribers.
In addition, after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, he publicly supported the aggressive policy of the top military-political leadership of Russia and justified the seizure of Ukrainian territories.
During searches at the address of the intruder’s residence, it was found:
- computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity;
- prohibited symbols and printing products used by radical nationalist structures of the aggressor country.
The attacker was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code (acquittal, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants), he faces up to eight years in prison.
The court chose the blogger a measure of restraint in the form of detention. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
