Sergei Gaidai, the former head of the Lugansk OVA, claims that there is no official refusal from Kazakhstan to appoint him as ambassador to this country.

He stated this in the Public edition, commenting on the appearance in the media of reports that Kazakhstan did not agree on his appointment.
This is complete nonsense. The fact is that there is no official refusal. It’s just either an invention of the Mirror of the Week, which I doubt, because why do they need it, or is it just a custom article, that’s all, he stressed.
My papers are still there. If the agreman comes, then this is an agreement, if it does not come, then this is a topic for discussion or for replacing a candidate. But so far, no one is planning to replace the candidate and there is no refusal,” Gaidai added.
At the same time, the Kazakh service of Radio Liberty reported that the Kazakh Foreign Ministry refused to comment on media reports about the approval of Gaidai.
Given the confidential nature of this procedure, we do not have the right to comment on information published with reference to unnamed sources, the press service of the country’s Foreign Ministry noted.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, referring to international practice and convention in the field of diplomatic law, stressed that the host country has the right to refuse to agree on the submitted candidacy without explaining the reasons.
This decision cannot be regarded as an unfriendly act, he said, adding that the Kazakh side remains committed to developing “multifaceted friendly” relations with Ukraine.
Recall that recently the publication Zerkalo Nedeli, citing its own sources, reported that Kazakhstan refused to provide agrement (consent to accepting a person as head of a diplomatic mission) to Gaidai. According to the publication, the Kazakh side made it clear that they wanted to see a professional diplomat as an ambassador.
