Due to the situation on the border in the Belgorod region, Russia wants to transfer additional troops there, including some combat-ready units fighting on the territory of Ukraine.
In particular, a decision is currently being made on the possible movement of units of the 3rd motorized rifle division of the 20th combined-arms army (permanent deployment point of Valuyki, Belgorod region) from the combat area (Makeevka, Platform of the Lugansk region) to the Belgorod region, – RBC-said Ukraine source in Ukrainian intelligence.
The Investigative Committee of Russia, a day after the start of the so-called “sabotage” in the Belgorod region, opened a criminal case in connection with the “attack on the Belgorod region.”
The ICR opened a criminal case under six articles. The department’s statement clarifies that the case was initiated on the grounds of such crimes: a terrorist act, encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers, attempted murder, intentional destruction or damage to property, illegal trafficking in weapons and explosives (Articles 205, 317, 105, 167, 222, 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Recall that the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on Tuesday morning that in the border district of Graivoronsk, where a detachment of the Russian Volunteer Corps had entered the day before, the “cleansing of the territory” carried out by the Ministry of Defense together with the power structures of the Russian Federation continues. The regime of the counter-terrorist operation is maintained in the region.
Gladkov said that it is not yet worth returning the evacuated residents of the Grayvoron District to their homes.
According to the head of the region, there are no civilian casualties, but a woman born in 1941 died during the evacuation.
The “operation” in the Belgorod region is the work of Russian patriots who are dissatisfied with the Putin regime. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar on the air of “1 + 1”.
According to her, the situation in the Belgorod region is an alleged internal Russian crisis that was brewing even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The German expert called the events in the Belgorod region a disgrace to the Russian security forces. With these words in an interview with BILD, a professor at the University of Cologne, political scientist Thomas Eger spoke.
If it is confirmed that these are the actions of Russian citizens in Russia itself, the resonance will be even stronger. Because it will be evidence that resistance to Putin is becoming violent, since it is no longer possible peacefully,” the expert said. — The longer the war goes on, the more long-term consequences it has on Russian society. And it can organize violent resistance to the regime.
He called the events in the Belgorod region “shameful” for the Russian special services and the military, because they did not prevent them.
Such actions may also have implications for the war, because they tie down Russian forces and force them to turn their attention to the long state border and infrastructure in the border zone, Yeger added.
