The Ukrainian military already has a Patriot air defense system on alert. But this is not enough to block all the directions we need, all major cities and all important critical infrastructure facilities. On the night of May 22, the enemy was aiming precisely at military facilities and critical infrastructure facilities in the Dnieper. This was stated by the press secretary of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignat, on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, Ukraine needs means against ballistics, working on the example of the Kiev region. It was with the help of the Petriot that six Kinzhal missiles and 10 ballistic missiles were destroyed during the attack on the capital.
Therefore, in the Air Force there are SAMP / T systems, which “may soon be on combat duty in Ukraine.” Also, the military once again noted the importance of obtaining Western F-16 fighters.
Recall that on the night of May 22, the Russian Federation fired Kh-101 / Kh-555 and Kh-22 missiles from the strategic bombers Tu-22m3 and Tu-95ms from the Caspian and Azov Seas and the Kursk region. From the occupied Crimea and part of Zaporozhye, the enemy attacked the S-300 air defense system, and Shahed-type attack drones were launched from the southern and northern directions.
In total, the enemy fired 16 missiles of various types and 20 attack drones, but Ukrainian air defense destroyed four X-101 / X-555 cruise missiles and 20 Shahedos and kamikaze UAVs.
