The Ukrainian military are advancing on the flanks and are approaching the capture of the city in a tactical situation. In the event of a change in the situation, the Defense Forces will be able to enter the city. This is stated in a message on behalf of the commander of the Ground Forces and the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, which was published on May 21 by the Military Media Center in Telegram.
According to him, if the city is taken into a tactical situation, the Ukrainian military will be able to control all high-rise buildings in Bakhmut, occupied by the enemy, and gradually destroy them. It will also deprive the Russians of control over intrigues in the city. It will also give the Ukrainian armed forces certain tactical advantages.
Syrsky also said that in the course of working with the commanders, he analyzed in detail the actions and procedure for destroying the enemy. The situation in Bakhmut is now difficult, but under control.
Meanwhile, the third assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that it had cleared 1,730 meters of the enemy in length and another 700 meters in depth. The soldiers of the 2nd assault battalion destroyed the units of the 72nd brigade of the Russians, who were trying to regain their positions. On Saturday, May 20, 23 infidels were liquidated, and more than 40 were injured. Enemy armored vehicles, including tanks, were also destroyed.
Recall that the representative of the Eastern Group of Forces, Sergei Cherevaty, said on the air of the telethon that the Defense Forces in the Bakhmut direction had fulfilled their task, as well as the fortress city of Bakhmut. The defenders destroyed one of the largest and most efficient enemy groups, including the Wagner militants.
