The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked US President Joe Biden for a new package of military aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He wrote about it on Telegram on May 21 after a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Japan.
“In Japan, I met with the President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden. Many thanks from our people for the powerful financial assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine, worth a total of $37 billion, as well as for a new military aid package worth $375 million,” – said the head of the country.
He added that he discussed with Biden further cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as well as the issue of implementing Ukraine’s peace formula.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on projects for the reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine.
The Office of the President added that Zelensky highlighted Biden’s decision to support the international aviation coalition, and also considered the issue of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration and preparations for the Vilnius NATO summit.
“The head of state noted the importance of obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine before our country joins the Alliance,” the statement of the Ukrainian leader’s service emphasized.
To recall, the United States announced the allocation of a new $375 million military aid package to Ukraine, which includes HIMARS ammunition, artillery and anti-tank weapons.
