The new European sanctions will apply to 90 companies worldwide that supply banned goods to Russia.
The new EU sanctions package will affect 90 companies that helped Russia evade economic restrictions previously imposed on it. This was announced on Saturday, May 20, by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, reports ZDF.
“In the eleventh package of sanctions, we have more than 90 companies around the world where we have clear evidence that they violate the sanctions, that is, they directly supply sanctioned goods to Russia from the European Union, which goes beyond third countries,” he stressed. .
According to him, some of these banned companies are registered in China.
“This does not mean that they have to be Chinese companies. These are companies that partially exist on paper and have owners who come from other countries. But they are registered in China, and here we will be clear,” added von der Leyen.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, also commented on the new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“The European Union’s decision to impose sanctions against more than 90 non-Russian companies that helped Russia evade sanctions can only be welcomed,” he said.
Yermak added that there will always be attempts by the enemy to evade sanctions, but the punishment for helping them do so should be severe.
Recall that on May 12, representatives of EU member states gathered for a meeting on the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, but could not make a decision.
