Strengthening the air defense / missile defense system remains a top priority for Ukraine, the Minister of Defense said.
The meeting of the international contact group on military assistance to Ukraine in the Ramstein format will be held next week. This was announced by Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov on Facebook on Saturday, May 20.
“Strengthening air defense / missile defense remains our number 1 priority. Ground systems – from MANPADS to powerful batteries and missiles for them are always in focus. In particular, we will discuss this with colleagues in next meeting in the Ramstein format next week,” – he wrote.
Reznikov noted that Western aircraft will be an important element in protecting Ukrainian skies.
“The modern aviation platform is exactly what we currently lack in air defense / missile defense systems to protect our peaceful cities and our soldiers at the front. They will certainly do their job at the highest level,” stressed the minister
He also addressed the citizens of Ukraine: “The decisions that our aircraft partners are making today are an important stage, but not the end of the road. Recall that on April 21, Germany hosted the 11th meeting in the Ramstein format. At this meeting, as usual, representatives of the defense departments of more than 50 countries of the world gathered. The participants left a significant part of the agreements behind closed doors.
