After the baby is born, health professionals must perform a series of procedures to ensure the health of the newborn. At the same time, as stressed in the Ministry of Health, all basic procedures are free of charge, the press service of the department reported on Wednesday, May 25.

In particular, they noted that upon the birth of a child in a medical institution, they should perform:

laboratory and instrumental research;

screening for congenital heart defects in a child;

hearing test;
-
immunization in accordance with the National Immunization Schedule;

blood sampling for neonatal screening
If necessary, perform resuscitation and stabilization of the child’s condition.
If a child is born from an HIV-positive mother, preventive measures are guaranteed for the newborn.
“If an illness is detected to require further treatment, the child will be referred to specialized and highly specialized medical institutions, and an individual rehabilitation program will be developed,” the Ministry of Health said.
In case of premature birth, the child is guaranteed:

intensive therapy;

required laboratory and instrumental studies;

full-time medical care, with parental involvement;

respiratory support;
-
parenteral nutrition;
-
consultation of all necessary specialists;
-
ophthalmic and audiological screening for preterm infants;
-
vaccination according to the Calendar of preventive vaccinations;
-
drugs on the National List of Drugs, etc.
At the same time, the department stressed that families who moved to another region of Ukraine through the conflict can still receive all these services free of charge.
Recall that since the beginning of a massive war in Ukraine, 24.8 thousand marriages have ended and more than 26 thousand babies have been born.
