The Saudi foreign minister said his country chose “active neutrality.”
Saudi Arabia has officially taken a neutral position in the Russian-Ukrainian war. This was said by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan, The Guardian wrote.
According to him, Saudi Arabia chose “active neutrality.” These words were uttered on the day of the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Jeddah, where he spoke at the Arab League summit.
“For Zelensky, this could be a positive result, because last year relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia were at an all-time high,” the newspaper wrote.
It will be remembered that on May 19, Zelensky arrived on a visit to Saudi Arabia. He met with the Crown Prince, Prime Minister of this country, Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud. The Ukrainian head of state also spoke at the meeting of the League of Arab States.
In addition, the President also met with the heads of delegations of the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Kuwait. The main issue is the mechanism for the implementation of the Ukrainian Formula of Peace and the possibility to involve as many countries of the world as possible in this process.
