If not for the events of 2014, nothing would have changed, believes the chief intelligence officer of Ukraine.
Russia actively began preparing for a war against Ukraine in 2007. And seven years later, in 2014, the Russians seized the opportunity to attack. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov in an interview with journalist Dmitry Komarov.
“Here you need to fix when Russia began to prepare for such actions. And it was 2007. Russia began to actively prepare for aggression since 2007. In 2014, they seized the opportunity. And then you saw how moving everything,” he said.
Budanov emphasized that if it were not for the events of 2014, nothing would have changed.
“The war between us was inevitable. We know for sure that since 2007 they started to prepare, this is clearly visible in our archives,” the head of the GUR added.
It can be recalled that Budanov admitted that he cried several times throughout the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine. The GUR leader also told where and how the Armed Forces of Ukraine saved Kyiv.
