The Ukrainian military continues active operations in the north and south in the suburbs of Bakhmut. Fierce fighting continues in this direction, and the advance of the defenders is not easy, since the command of the Russian Federation has concentrated a large number of its forces here. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar on May 19 on the air of the telethon.
You need to understand the cost of this promotion. It is very difficult to carry out combat missions there, because the enemy has concentrated a huge amount of his efforts. And in fact, every meter there is like 10 km of advancement in other conditions,” she stressed.
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense, Russian soldiers and mercenaries are trying to return the lost territory, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other units repel enemy attacks.
In the fortress city itself, fighting continues in the southwestern part. However, this part is controlled by the Ukrainian military and the enemy cannot put his plans into practice.
And the commander of the Ground Forces, Alexander Syrsky, posted on Telegram a video of the assault actions of one of the special forces of the 10th mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss” in the Bakhmut direction.
Recall that on May 18, the Third Separate Assault Brigade, which is part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported a breakthrough in the western outskirts of Bakhmut. The defenders managed to advance 2 km wide and 700 m deep.
