The spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, confirmed that Ukrainian pilots were tested in the United States, which made it possible to predict the time required to master the F-16 aircraft. He spoke about it on the air of the telethon on May 19.
The spokesman noted that the Air Force previously announced a training period of up to six months, but the American side came to the conclusion that the Ukrainian military can be retrained in four months.
“Our pilots have been tested. They are combat pilots, with combat experience, with a lot of flight time … Two pilots were tested in the USA, and there the conclusions were made in this test, and in flight simulators, and in flight simulators it was estimated how long it would take them to master Western technology, I mean an aircraft like the F-16… Our American partners decided that maybe up to four months is enough to retrain trained pilots like ours. to teach, but to retrain for another type of aircraft,” explained Ignat.
He noted that the reception of multi-purpose aircraft F-16 can radically change the situation on the battlefield.
