The German company, despite the promise to stop exports, continued to trade with the Russian Federation after the latter invaded Ukraine.
German camera manufacturer Leica Camera AG after the war in Ukraine, he continued to sell dual-use goods to the aggressor country, Russia: binoculars and sights. This was reported by The Insider.
The company promised to stop selling goods in Russia, but in fact continued to deliver them. In particular, we are talking about binoculars with laser rangefinders and night vision scopes.
Russian OOO Watering Can Camera Rush (now – Vechernyaya Zvezda LLC), 99% owned by Leica Camera Austria GmbH, in 2022 filed three customs declarations for importing binoculars and sights. These documents are valid for several years.
The publication states that Leica did not violate the sanctions: the EU banned the export of binoculars and night vision scopes to Russia only in the tenth package of sanctions, one year after the start of the war, on February 25, 2023.
Another division Leica – Swiss Leica Geosystems – through third countries actually supplies the Russian Federation with laser rangefinders and levels that can be used to correct artillery fire.
So, from May to April 2023, Russian importers (Geooptics, Geospectrum, Rosgeocom, Professor, CPI) issued 24 product declarations Leica Geosystems AGimporting it through Chinese and Turkish intermediaries.
Some of these companies have previously been suppliers to the Ministry of Defense and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.
It will be recalled that the media previously said that spare parts for Boeing, Airbus and other aircraft manufacturers arrived in Russia last year to avoid sanctions.
In addition, the media discovered that European companies supply goods to Russian companies that work for the Russian army.
