An EU official said EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell proposed adding 3.5 billion euros to the fund.
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, suggested that the European Union increase the EU funds used to finance military aid to Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources in the EU.
The official said Borrell was asking for money because funds were drying up.
“We need to replenish. The essence of the European Peace Fund… is universal. It was not conceived for Ukraine. It was created for any conflict that the European Union might face.
Borrell has reportedly offered to add €3.5 billion to the fund.
Remember, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte are working to create an international coalition of fighter jets for Ukraine.
Ukraine hopes to receive around 40-50 F-16 fighters from Western partners and form three to four squadrons to protect the skies.
