The anonymous American official and representative of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuri Ignat confirmed that the complex “is in service.”
The Patriot anti-aircraft missile system was “broken” during a rocket attack in Ukraine, but it is still in good working order. This was announced on Wednesday, May 17, by the AFP news agency, citing the comment of a US official responsible for defense.
“The Patriot system remains operational,” he said.
According to him, the damage caused by an unidentified projectile that fell near the complex is still being investigated.
The spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, in a commentary to AFP said that the air defense system “is in service.”
“He’s fine,” he added.
Recall that on Wednesday, May 17, the Kremlin decided to “strengthen the effect” of the initial statement: today it was “released” that the Kinzhal missiles hit “five Patriot air defense systems.”
Remember that the American television channel CNN said: Patriot air defense systems could be destroyed during a Russian attack. However, the White House did not confirm this information.
CNN later issued another statement that the Patriot received “minor” damage after a Russian rocket attack on Kyiv on the night of May 16.
