18 students from 5 to 11 years old were injured. Seven of them are in hospital in serious condition.
In Melbourne, Australia, a truck crashed into a bus carrying 45 students. As a result of the accident, around 18 children were injured and hospitalized, BBC News reported on May 17.
It is known that due to the impact, the bus turned around and the students were trapped. Bystanders, a truck driver, and teachers who rushed to the scene helped rescuers get them out of the rubble.
Children from 5 to 11 years old are affected. Seven of them are in serious condition, including one injured in intensive care.
The truck driver was charged with dangerous driving resulting in grievous bodily harm. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
According to the BBC, Australia’s road safety record is below average compared to other advanced economies. It ranks 20th out of 36 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries in terms of road deaths.
