Li Hui will provide possible ways to resolve the war in Ukraine during his European tour.
China’s Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui arrived in Ukraine on Wednesday, May 17. This was reported by the Spanish edition of El Mundo.
Li Hui is now in Kyiv. A senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a meeting between China’s special envoy and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is now possible.
It was supposed to be the first meeting between a Ukrainian leader in person and a senior Chinese official since the Russian invasion began on February 24, 2022.
In Beijing, Li Hui is expected to outline possible ways to resolve the war in Ukraine during a European tour. He also plans to visit Poland, France, Germany and Russia.
It will be remembered that on April 26, Zelensky spoke on the phone with the leader of China Xi Jinping for the first time since the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. They exchanged views on the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the war.
Zelensky himself, after talking with the Chinese leader, declared the impossibility of peace through territorial compromises.
