Russia has announced the start of serial production of “increased power” air missiles Armor-piercer, which is planned to be used against Ukraine this year. It was announced on May 17 RIA news with reference to the deputy general director of the concern Tekhmash Alexandra Kochkina.

“Rocket Armor-piercer approved and has gone into series, there are first orders. This year we will see its use in the NVO zone (in the war against Ukraine, – ed.)”, – he said during the exhibition of weapons and military equipment MILEX-2023 in Minsk.

According to Kochkin, the missile is designed for Su-25 aircraft, Mi-8 series military helicopters and other aircraft equipped with unguided rocket launchers. It should complement the family of S-8 shells of 80 mm caliber.

As stated, the warhead of the rocket “is 5-6 times more powerful” than previous models. In addition, it can break through strong barriers and hit enemy fortifications.

Recall that in early May, the Ukrainian air defense shot down a hypersonic missile daggerwhich in the Russian Federation is considered “invincible”.
