Andriy Klyuev is a suspect in the case of misuse of state funds in the amount of more than 195 million hryvnias.
The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine. This was announced by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) on Wednesday, May 17.
“The VAKS investigating judge, at the request of the NABU detectives, approved by the SAPO prosecutor, chose a measure of detention for the former First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, suspected of organizing misuse and embezzlement of budget funds in favor of a controlled enterprise and enterprises controlled by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, for a total amount of more than 195 million hryvnias, provided for the financing of innovative projects and investments in the real sector of the economy (part 3, article 27, part 5, article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the message said.
It is indicated that the court supported the position of SAPO and NABU and chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for the specified person.
“After the person is detained and transported to the place of pre-trial investigation, the investigating judge will decide on the application of this measure of detention,” SAP added.
They also reminded that the pre-trial investigation in the said criminal proceedings has been completed. The case materials are open to the defense for examination.
The message does not indicate the name of the defendant, but it is about Andrey Klyuev. On March 14, VAKS authorized a special investigation here precisely because of the case of misuse of state funds for 195 million hryvnias.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revoked the citizenship of several former ministers and officials from the Viktor Yanukovych era, including Andriy Klyuyev.
