Protesters marched from the parliament to the offices of Georgian Airways, the airline that flies to Moscow.
In Tbilisi on the evening of Tuesday, May 16, protests were held against the resumption of direct flights between Russia and Georgia, agreed by the pro-government Georgian Dream Party. Newsgeorgia reported it.
It was noted that the protesters marched from the parliament to the office of Georgian Airways, an airline that flies to Moscow. They shouted: “Not to Russian aircraft”, as well as “Putin – *** lo, Bydzina – *** lo”.
The media also reported that the slogan of the protest was: “A Russian ship cannot take us to the European Union.”
The second protest action took place near the Government Chancellery building. Newsgeorgia reported that protesters launched paper airplanes under the slogan “One-way ticket to Moscow for the Ivanishvili regime.”
As you know, on May 10, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the abolition of the visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15. He also lifted the ban on flights of Russian airlines and the sale of tours in Georgia.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called the decisions made by Russia another provocation. However, the government and the ruling party Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia welcomed the decision.
