In addition to Hiroshima’s 3,000 police, another 21,000 police from other branches across the country will arrive in the city during the summit.
Some 24,000 people will support the safety of participants at the G-7 leaders’ summit in Hiroshima, Japan, later this week. This was reported by Xinhua on Tuesday, May 16, citing a statement from Japan’s National Police Service.
It was noted that in addition to Hiroshima’s 3,000 law enforcement officers, another 21,000 police officers from 45 police departments across the country will be arriving in the city for the duration of the summit.
The National Police Service said its earlier security plans had been stepped up after an explosive device was thrown at Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on April 15 at an election event in Wakayama City.
As you know, the Group of Seven includes the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and the UK. The leaders of these states, as well as invited guests, will gather for the annual summit in Hiroshima on May 19-21.
To be remembered, the head of the Japanese government said that the G7 summit will focus on supporting Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the G7 was planning to ban all their exports to Russia.
