The judges also voted to submit to the Plenum the issue of expressing no confidence in the Chairman of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev and removing him from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court. 138 out of 142 judges voted for this, the correspondent of Rakurs reports.
The corresponding SC Plenum will take place in the near future. So far, this issue is being decided by the organizing committee. The judges created a group of four judges who will prepare a draft decision on no confidence in Knyazev. Then the whole plenum will vote for him.
If he maintains distrust of the head, then Knyazev will lose the post of head of the Armed Forces, but not the judge.
Prosud writes that if Knyazev is removed from the post of head of the Supreme Court, he will remain a judge of the Supreme Court, but will lose his position as a member of the VRP, which means that he will not be able to influence the appointment of members of the HQCC.
The Supreme Court must elect a new chairman within a month, until then the powers of the chairman will be exercised by the deputy, and if there is none, then the judge with the longest experience of the Supreme Court.
There are 168 judges on the staff of the Supreme Court. 141 judges are present at the meeting, of which 138 judges signed the motion of no confidence in the chairman (56 signatures were required for the motion to be taken into consideration).
Statement of the Supreme Court on the case of bribery of the chairman of the court Vsevolod Knyazev
The Supreme Court, fully aware of its role and place in the justice system, takes full responsibility for what is happening in connection with the possible corrupt actions of its individual representatives.
The judges of the Supreme Court are shocked by these events.
The Supreme Court notes that a full objective investigation of all circumstances will contribute to the speedy establishment of the truth and the restoration of justice. For any corruption crime there must be an inevitable punishment.
Judges and employees of the Supreme Court voluntarily and fully cooperate with the investigation.
Judges of the Supreme Court are forced to state that acts of corruption in courts of any level, and even more so in the Armed Forces, cause irreparable damage to the reputation and trust in the court, destroy the authority of justice.
The Supreme Court operates and will continue to operate on the principle of self-purification, taking all necessary measures.
This is a dark day in court history. We must be worthy and withstand this blow.
