A man was detained at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport trying to smuggle 24 kg of gold out of Russia. This was reported by the press service of the FSB of the Russian Federation on Tuesday, May 16.
“A person trying to leave the territory of the Russian Federation was found with two gold bars hidden in personal belongings with a total weight of more than 24 kg. Their estimated value exceeded 126 million rubles,” said of the report.
It is noted that gold bars of 99 samples weighing 12.444 kg and 12.307 kg were produced in 2022 and 2023.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of smuggling. The detainee was taken into custody. He faces a sentence of three to seven years in prison.
