The head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov, said that Ukraine communicated with Belarus and Alexander Lukashenko because of MP Yevgeny Shevchenko.

Contacts were made to prevent Belarus from being drawn into the war and the re-entry of Russian troops from its territory.
We use the possibilities of his communication, his connections. It has never been hidden. And he is efficient in this process. Shevchenko has been helping for a long time,” Budanov said.
Shevchenko himself spoke about the service in intelligence earlier.
In July 2022, the people’s deputy, previously expelled from the Servant of the People, came to the Council in military uniform and said that he served in intelligence. Colleagues quarreled with him, saying that it is not necessary to boast of a military uniform in the Rada hall, and such a people’s deputy as Shevchenko does not have the moral right to wear a pixel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After that, Shevchenko left the hall, allegedly went to change clothes, but did not return to the hall.
Recall that until February 24, 2022, Shevchenko was already a non-factional MP. He got into parliament from the Servant of the People party.
Shevchenko is a consistent admirer of Lukashenka. On August 17, 2020, Shevchenko called on Belarusians to “forgive” Lukashenka for his “sins and crimes.”
On April 20, 2021, he went to meet Belarusian self-proclaimed President Lukashenko. Then the deputy head of the Servant of the People faction Alexander Kornienko said that the trip was Yevgeny’s own initiative, and party representatives would demand an explanation. In Minsk, Shevchenko said that a third of Ukrainians want to see Lukashenka as their president.
On May 23, when a Ryanair plane was forcibly landed in Belarus and opposition leader Roman Protasevich was detained, Shevchenko praised Lukashenka.
On May 24, the Servant of the People faction announced the exclusion of Shevchenko from its membership.
