Food prices in Ukraine in April 2023 increased by 0.3% compared to March. This is the lowest number since the beginning of the war. Also, the lowest growth in consumer prices in annual terms: against April 2022, they increased by 17.9%. This is what the director of the National Research Center Institute of Agrarian Economics Yuri Lupenko said, the press service of the institute reports.
According to him, prices for meat and meat products (+3.3%), as well as fish and fish products (+0.5%) increased the most in April.
At the same time, prices for eggs (-8.7%), sunflower oil (-1.6%), fruit (-1.4%), milk (-0.8%) and sugar (-0.3%) decreased. %). Prices for bread, bakery products and butter remained at the level of March.
In April, prices for vegetables increased by 0.3%, and in March of this year, prices for vegetables increased by 17.3% against February.
According to the research results of scientists from the Institute of Agrarian Economics, last year the fall in prices for vegetables began in July, which was repeated in August-September and November.
According to Lupenko, the slowdown in growth and the drop in food prices are becoming more real, and with the arrival of new crops, they will be more noticeable.
He noted that the slowdown in the growth rate of prices in the consumer market continued from November 2022 to March 2023, when they increased by 1.5% compared to the previous month. But in April, these rates almost fell to the lowest.
It can be remembered that, according to the State Statistics Service, inflation slowed down significantly in April.
