In Turkey, on Sunday, May 14, the presidential and parliamentary elections of the 28th convocation began. This was reported by Ukrinform.
More than 191,000 ballot boxes have been installed in the country, voting will last until 17:00.
In total, more than 64.1 million citizens will vote in the country and abroad, and 4.9 million voters will vote for the first time. Voters will receive two ballots at polling stations, which must be placed in an envelope and dropped into the ballot box.
Three candidates are vying for the presidency: current head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan, opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu and ATA Alliance candidate Sinan Ogan. A fourth candidate officially dropped out of the race a few days ago, but his name remains on the ballot because it is no longer possible to reprint it.
24 political parties and 151 independent candidates are registered to participate in the parliamentary elections.
If none of the candidates wins an absolute majority of the votes in the first round, the second round will take place on May 28.
It will be remembered that on Friday, May 12, Kemal Kilicdaroglu accused the Russians of planning and spreading fakes.
We add that after this statement, the Kremlin “froze” about the interference of the Russian Federation in the elections in Turkey.
Earlier, the media reported that Russian special services conducted a series of staged protests in Europe. The purpose of such “measures” is to occupy Turkey and its NATO allies, as well as to discredit Ukraine.
