The special service examines information about the possible sale of confidential information to Russia.
Law enforcement officials detained two private detectives in Kyiv who were selling information from closed databases of state institutions. This was reported by the SBU on Saturday, May 13.
According to the investigation, the illegal activity was organized by a former investigator of one of the regional police departments in Kyiv. The man refused to undergo police certification and in 2015 he resigned from law enforcement agencies. Subsequently, together with a friend, he created a private detective agency.
Under the guise of legal business, they collect confidential information about other citizens for their clients, including obtaining data stored in state registries. To do this, the attackers used their connections with officials and law enforcement officers.
The cost of the dossier per person ranges from 800 to 2.6 thousand dollars. The amount depends on the size of the personal data and the urgency of the order.
So, for example, detailed questionnaires, in addition to passport data of citizens, include information about their phone and car numbers, as well as information about crossing the border and committing administrative violations .
SBU officers detained the attackers when they received the second part of the money for a folder with data about a resident of the capital.
During searches of the defendants’ residential addresses, mobile phones and computers with evidence of illegal activity were found. Detainees were informed of suspicion under the article on unauthorized sale or dissemination of information with restricted access (part 2 of article 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Information about the possible sale of confidential information to Russia is now under review.
Earlier, the SBU exposed a henchman of collaborator Tatyana Montyan in Kyiv. The attacker helped him “promote” a pro-Russian Telegram channel.
The SBU also established that businessmen from the Poltava region supplied Russia with equipment for the production of S-300 air defense systems.
